Winning the state Republican Party’s endorsement for U.S. Senate is already paying off for state Sen. Leah Vukmir (R-Brookfield). The Republican Party of Wisconsin (RPW) is running a new radio ad statewide, “The Wisconsin Way,” starting on Wednesday to support Vukmir’s candidacy.
According to RPW spokesman Alec Zimmerman, this is the first ad purchased by the party in the U.S. Senate race. The total ad spend statewide is $29,000. The radio commercial follows a statewide tour by Vukmir and RPW Chairman Brad Courtney around the state to the party’s field offices to tout the party endorsement.
Vukmir won the state party endorsement on May 12 at the party’s state convention. However, she is still opposed by Delafield business consultant Kevin Nicholson for the Republican Party nomination which will be determined in the party primary election on August 14. The winner of the primary will take on the Democratic incumbent U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin.
