Dear RightWisconsin Readers,
Since I became a member of Congress in 2015, a lot of things have changed. In 2015, America’s economy was stagnant, businesses were facing unnecessary regulatory hurdles and Wisconsin manufacturing was fading. Times were tough for families, health care costs were high and Washington’s answer to all of this was more government interference.
Luckily, we live in Wisconsin, where people actually “get it.” Voters took to the polls and elected a fresh set of leaders who would pull America up by the bootstraps and put us back on the right track.
Since Republican leadership has been sent to Washington, America’s economy is booming, businesses are getting much needed regulatory relief and Wisconsin has become the fastest growing manufacturing state in the midwest. Republican leadership is about taking control away from Washington and returning it to you because an unelected bureaucrat sitting in an office building on K Street doesn’t know what’s best for you and your family. You do.
One of my proudest accomplishments over the last two years was working on the Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Act as a member of the House Committee on Education and the Workforce. This legislation was designed to expand access to and update the career and technical education system in America. I am proud to say that this bill was signed into law by President Trump earlier this year. Believe it or not, right now America has more job openings than people unemployed, and many of these are skilled labor jobs. It’s time we start telling our children and grandchildren that career and technical schools should not be a last resort; they provide skills that will last a lifetime.
Knowing all of this, and knowing how great our economy is right now, some people want this to change. Democrats want power back so badly, that they are willing to say anything and spend any amount of money to do it.
In the last two weeks, Wisconsin’s 6th District had been flooded with nearly $300,000 worth of TV ads funded by Nancy Pelosi’s Super PAC that say I want to eliminate coverage for people with pre-existing conditions. I’m telling you right now, that is a complete fabrication. I voted twice for bills that would repeal Obamacare and both of those bills kept protections for people with pre-existing conditions and stated that no one could be denied coverage.
My friends, Bryan Steil and Leah Vukmir, are also facing massive outside spending in their races. Bryan is a problem solver who is a veteran of the manufacturing industry. Leah is a nurse and military mom, who I served with in the state legislature, and always puts Wisconsin first. It is troubling to me that Democrats from New York, California, Florida and D.C. think they can come into Wisconsin, our home, to influence our elections by tearing down these great people. In my race alone, there has been over $3 million spent from sources outside of Wisconsin, and that’s not including the Nancy Pelosi Super PAC’s super spending spree.
It is up to you to make sure that Wisconsin and America continue to move forward down the right path. So, if you want to continue to grow our economy, prioritize career and technical education and continue to put people first.
Remember to vote on November 6.
