Filling the vacancy created the election of Judge Jill Karofsky to the Wisconsin Supreme Court, Governor Tony Evers appointed Rep. Chris Taylor (D-Madison) as a Dane County Circuit Court judge.
The appointment of Taylor, one of the most leftwing members of the Democratic Assembly Caucus, inspired an interesting reaction from Assembly Majority Leader Jim Steineke (R-Kaukauna):
Unfortunately for Taylor, she won’t have former Assembly Minority Leader Peter Barca (D-Kenosha) to help her in the courtroom. Friend of RightWisconsin Sam Hagedorn found this classic moment in Taylor’s legislative career:
No wonder Taylor told the leftwing Wisconsin Examiner she is looking forward to a “saner schedule” than working in the state legislature. The commute from Madison to Madison for a part time job must’ve been rough.
However, Taylor’s appointment is the latest in a string of appointments by Evers of radical abortion proponents. Wisconsin Right to Life issued a statement reminding the public of Taylor’s work as the public policy director for Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin before she joined the legislature.
“Just when we thought the Dane County Circuit Court could not get any more liberal, Governor Evers appoints one of the most liberal elected officials our state has ever seen,” said Kristen Nupson, legislative director of Wisconsin Right to Life. “Chris Taylor has spent her career finding ways to advocate for a culture of death. Her support of killing the most vulnerable has been unwavering. She has publicly supported Roe v. Wade and has stated she wants to enshrine the right to abortion into state law.”
