The following is a letter and video from Rep. Gallagher to his constituents encouraging Wisconsinites to get back to the basics: practicing good hygiene, maintaining social distancing, and wearing a mask when necessary.

Hey Northeast Wisconsin, it’s Mike Gallagher.

It has been a tough year for our community, for our state, and for our country. We’ve all had to make enormous sacrifices, particularly those who have dealt with the disease personally or had a loved one get sick or pass away. Needless to say things aren’t easy right now, but that doesn’t mean we won’t get through this.

In fact, I have no doubt our community will pull together — like we always have — to defeat this disease. But to do so sooner rather than later, we can’t take our eye off the ball. We all have to step up, remain vigilant, and exercise caution in order to ensure our hospitals and our front line workers are not overwhelmed and our community stays open.

That means until we have a vaccine, we all have a part to play in keeping Northeast Wisconsin healthy. And that requires us to get back to the basics: practicing good personal hygiene like washing our hands, limiting our exposure to large groups, maintaining social distance, and, wearing a mask when you’re indoors to protect not only ourselves, but those around us as well.

That’s why I’m revamping this Coronavirus webpage, to ensure you have all the up to date information on the virus and ways we can keep our community safe. I hope you find this helpful, and if you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to call my office to let us know.

We’re six months into the Coronavirus, and I know it’s easy to get complacent. We all want to go back to life as normal. We’re all exhausted. But we’re going to get through it, and we’re going to get through it together. And if we all do our part to slow the spread, we can get back to safely doing all the things we enjoy most, whether it’s watching the Packers play or worshiping together or making sure our kids are going to school in person.

Semper Fi,

Congressman Mike Gallagher represents Wisconsin’s 8th District in the U.S. House of Representatives.
