Amanda Stuck apparently does not like accomplished women if they dare to be Republicans. However, Rep. Mike Gallagher (R-WI08) and his campaign will not let an attack on his wife go unanswered, and have responded with a campaign video.

In a bizarre rant, Stuck accused Gallagher of being out of step with his district because he married a woman who had a career on Broadway, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported.

“I don’t come from wealth and privilege like Mike Gallagher does. I didn’t marry a Broadway star like Mike Gallagher did. I married a sheet metal journeyman. We know what it’s like to work multiple jobs to stay ahead,” Stuck said in a taped video for WisconsinVote.org. “For most of us, Broadway is a street in Green Bay. It isn’t a place in Manhattan, like Mike Gallagher knows.”

Gallagher’s wife, Anne Horak Gallagher, responded by pointing out to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that she is originally from the Green Bay Area.

“Amanda Stuck’s attempts to shame me for pursuing my career in theatre is repugnant,” she said in a statement to the newspaper. “I had amazing teachers at Notre Dame Academy in Green Bay and worked my tail off to establish a career for myself in Manhattan.”

On Thursday, Horak Gallagher took to social media to criticize Stuck’s attack.

“Any success I had in New York was due to sheer hard work and determination. Not privilege,” Horak Gallagher said in the video. “And I will not allow you to mock my career choice so that it fits into your narrative.”

“It is 2020. How ridiculous for a woman to put down another woman’s career choice in order to gain a few cheap political points,” Horak Gallagher added.

Gallagher himself responded to Stuck’s claims that his success is the result of a privileged life in a statement at a candidate debate in the 8th Congressional District.
