Hagedorn’s victory seemed nearly as stunning to conservatives as it did to Neubauer and her liberal allies. There were lots of pleasantly surprised Republicans who, throughout the race, heard predictions of a looming Neubauer blowout.
“This state, in some ways, is ground zero for gerrymandering,” Holder claimed. “Democrats win more votes for the Assembly than Republicans do, and yet have far fewer numbers of Democratic Assembly people in the state legislature.”
Despite Neubauer’s claim she opposes outside money spent on her campaign’s behalf, a number of liberal special interests are spending considerable amounts to win this seat with the long term goal of establishing a liberal majority.
