Thanks to Wisconsin’s generous sick leave conversion system, some retirees have banked hundreds of thousands of dollars they can use to pay for post-retirement health insurance premiums in the Wisconsin Group Health Insurance Program.
There are scores of former government workers earning more in retirement than they did on the job. Some just a few thousand dollars more, others banking two or three times more than their highest salary average.
In another election underscoring the enthusiasm gap between Democratic and Republican voters, Milwaukee County Circuit Court Judge Rebecca Dallet handily defeated her conservative opponent Sauk County Judge Michael Screnock in the race for Wisconsin Supreme Court.
What Dallet has failed to note is that the politically motivated John Doe investigations – which were little more than political spying operations on dozens of Wisconsin right-of-center groups – were declared unconstitutional for a reason.
You may think that our state government needs the treasurer as an official financial office but, in Wisconsin, the state treasurer simply does not manage financial duties as these have been delegated to other agencies.
